Micro-influence Mechanism Of "The NIMBY Effect" In Environmental Events

The NIMBY Effect is a hot topic at home and abroad in recent years.A lot of NIMBY facilities in neighboring people's gathering places have risen to meet and solve the necessary public services in the process of industrialization and modernization of China.The contradiction between the negative externalities of such an evasive facility and the interests of the neighboring residents can easily induce the NIMBY Conflict and cause NIMBY Environmental Events.NIMBY Environmental Events challenged the stability of local social security and the credibility of the government and caused great impact.What is the main influencing factor that induces the production of the NIMBY Effect in China?Does the interaction of these factors have different effects on NIMBY Environmental Events?This article uses Qualitative Comparative Analysis(QCA)research method,Through the study of 20 typical NIMBY Environmental Events that have occurred in China in recent years according to different categories.According to 4 key influence factors,6 impact variables are assigned and a truth table is constructed.Then use fs/QCA3.0 software to calculate.Finally,analyze and summarize the results,extract the microscopic influence mechanism of NIMBY Effect from Environmental Events.Author mainly obtained the following three conclusions after QCA research and analysis:the combination of conditions formed by risk perception and psychological fear,lack of information communication,the government responded inappropriately and rumor is a combination of necessary conditions for the occurrence of the avoidance effect.It means that when these variables happen at the same time,NIMBY Effect must happen.From this we have initially obtained the micro-influence mechanism of China NIMBY Effect.(2)Economic compensation factor and lawless agitators are not necessary to cause the process of the avoidance effect to generate or promote NIMBY Environmental Events.(3)risk perception and psychological fear factor are the necessary conditions for the occurrence of NIMBY Environmental Events.In addition,from the category of NIMBY Environmental Events,The information communication factor is all necessary conditions in all three types except the stigmatization class NIMBY Environmental Events.The innovations in this article include:(1)Using the QCA method study the influence of the combination of multiple factors on the effect of the NIMBY Effect by case analysis and truth table calculations.(2)Apply the QCA method based on fuzzy sets to study the combination of factors produced by NIMBY Effect,greatly improve the accuracy of qualitative comparative analysis.(3)Classifying different types of NIMBY Environmental Events,explore its differences.
