Due to the advancements made in the telecommunications sector, there has been the need to design antennas that can cover the fourth generation(4G)of mobile communication e.g.Long-Term Evolution(LTE)band 1.71-2.69 GHz being implemented in the operations of the mobile communications and also to make sure the antenna can handle the speed and capacity specifications that come with these telecommunication technologies.LTE technology, which stands for Long-Term Evolution(LTE)Technology,is a standard for high-speed wireless communication for mobile devices and data terminals that is based on the GSM/EDGE and UMTS/HSPA technologies.LTE technology provides increased capacity and speed using a different radio interface together with other core network improvements such as a decrease in latency and using higher bandwidths.LTE technology was introduced as a gateway technology for 4G mobile technologies which designed based on high system capabilities such as peak data rates and improved network latency, higher throughput, efficient use of the spectrum, good Quality of Service and reduced call drops due to mobility, increased coverage and better reception, reduced power consumption for user equipment and cost reductions. Therefore,a broadband dual-polarization slot antenna has been proposed for 1.71-2.69 GHz band of long-term evolution(LTE)and wireless broadband frequencies.A single polarized antenna radiates only to one orientation of polarization, which is either horizontal or vertical direction.A dual-polarized antenna, however, can respond to both horizontally and vertically polarized radio waves at the same time The antenna proposed has a beam power pattern, which is stable and unidirectional. The design, which is made up of size and make of the slot, and also the driving frequency is what establishes the radiation pattern of the antenna.Unidirectional antennas focus the RF energy radiated in a particular direction. The coverage distance the RF energy covers increases as the power gain of the directional antenna increases.Antenna power gain is a key performance index(KPI),which is based on the antenna's electrical efficiency and the direction in which it radiates.Unidirectional antennas are very useful for solving cases of near LOS coverage. It also provides increased performance over dipole antennas when there is the need for greater concentration of radiation in a certain direction.
