The radio wave propagation model is used to predict the impact of topography, obstacles and artificial environments on the propagation loss of radio waves in a given propagation environment. It is one of the key issues to be solved in network planning and network optimization. This article presents five empirical/semi-empirical propagation models, which are commonly used in high-band outdoor cellular networks. The application of these models in wireless network environments in Yunnan region needs to be further studied and verified.Furthermore, the actual field values of a 2.6GHz band wireless network in a flat terrain and mountainous terrain in Yunnan were measured. The mean error(ME),root mean square error(RMSE),and error standard deviation(ESTD)of the five commonly used propagation models' predicted values and measured values were calculated using these measurements, and it is verified that the predicted value of SPM model is closer to the actual measured value. On this basis,a linear least square method was used to correct the SPM model. When the model is corrected,a method of calculating the effective height of base station(BS)antenna based on elevation data is proposed. This method can reduce the error that the mountainous areas are simplified to the flat-terrain in the existed propagation models. After correction, the environmental impact factor of Yunnan flat area networks(YFANETs)is 50.798 dB,and the environmental impact factor of Yunnan mountainous area networks(YMANETs)is 65.031 dB.The calculation result shows that the corrected propagation model is more suitable for predicting the path loss of the actual propagation environment in Yunnan, which can be directly applied to the wireless network coverage planning and quality optimization of such an environment. In addition, using the measurement scheme and calibration method proposed in this paper, more models suitable for different propagation environments can be calibrated, and it can reduce the deployment cost and improve the service quality of the wireless network.
