Based on the natural orthogonality, good anti-interference and low interception performance of the chaotic sequence,it is applied to the waveform design of multiple input multiple output(MIMO)radar. This paper takes chaotic sequence as the core of the research, deeply studies the performance of waveform synthesis input function, and optimizes the waveform's autocorrelation performance and cross-correlation performance accordingly,so can reduce the sidelobes of the pulse compression waveform. The research work and innovations of this paper are as follows:(1)This paper introduces several basic chaotic sequence mapping functions, their new chaotic mapping Hybrid sequences and multidimensional Hyper sequences.Based on the performance of chaotic sequences and chaotic phase-coded sequences, the feasibility of applying chaos in MIMO radars is analyzed.(2)An adaptive clonal selection algorithm is utilized to obtain a pair of chaotic complementary sequences to optimize autocorrelation performance, and simulation results show that this method can effectively reduce the autocorrelation side lobe of chaotic sequence.(3)A framework for designing orthogonal chaotic complementary phase-coded waveforms with space-time complementary coding is proposed for MIMO radar applications.By extending the space-time coding the pulse trains of chaotic complementary sequences, the cross-correlation between chaotic complementary phase-coded waveforms is effectively reduced.(4)In order to reduce the cross-correlation interference between chaotic complementary phase encoded waveforms, another optimization scheme is proposed: using orthogonal frequency division techniques to optimize the cross-correlation performance between chaotic complementary phase codes. Then a method of the MIMO radar waveform design based on the chaotic complementary orthogonal frequency division phase coding is given. The selection of sub-band carrier frequency for this waveform is analyzed. It was found that this waveform is an excellent waveform suitable for Multiple Input Multiple Output over the horizon radar(MIMO-OTHR),thus further discussing a series problem of the waveform application for MIMO-OTHR.
