There are two serious challenges in the future broadband wireless communication systems: multi-path fading in the wireless channel and spectral efficiency. Wireless channel is a great limitation for reliable video transmission. The transmission loss, time-varying characteristics, noise, interference and the frequency-selective fading caused will bring too high an error rate to provide a reliable service quality during high-speed data transmission. Thus, it becomes a pressing problem to solve robust transmission for video business over wireless channels.As a combination of OFDM with space-time coding technique, MIMO-OFDM has received considerable attentions recently, which can not only effectively enhance the transmission rate and capacity of the wireless communication system but also combat multi-path fading and interfere.In this paper, we discuss the principle of MIMO-OFDM system based on the introduction of fading channels. We mainly analysis the STBC-OFDM system, focusing on the key technique of channel estimation in this system. An research of two kinds of channel estimation method based on comb-type-pilot and block-type-pilot has been taken in-depth. Several basic and improved algorithms are given respectively. We focused on the time-domain estimation algorithm using m-sequence method, and then presents a multi-phase sequence as an improved algorithm with simulations using matlab.
