The working lifestyles such as teleconferencing, telemedicine and distance education have brought great convenience to people and have raised the working life's efficiency. As a result, the remote video transmission system has emerged as the core technology. The amount of video image data is huge and it is necessa-ry to compress it to transmit in real time under the existing bandwidth.Video co-di ng technology is the core of remote video transmission system,so it needs further study.H.264 encoding standard protocol uses efficient encoding algorithm,exc-ell ent network transmission architecture and error control to meet the.remote vi-de o transmission system. In this paper, based on the H.264 encoding protocol, the c ollected images are compressed and transmitted remotely over the network. This article uses the V4L2(Video For Linux Two)framework as the basis for video capture.V4L2 is an operation interface function of user layer to device layer in embedded system, which can transfer and compress audio and video data from device layer to user layer. In this paper,ARM11-based embedded chips as the core of video coding and transmission processors,to achieve the compression of video images.Using RTP protocol to implement H.264 data streaming design,Live555 is chosen as the framework for streaming, processing and transmitting video data.Finally,H.264 data is transmitted by UDP multicast.According to the requirements of H.264 encoding standard and video transmission system, the paper realizes the collection of video images, the H.264 encoding of video images and the network transmission of H.264 data. After systematic testing,it is suitable for remote conferencing, video calls and other application requirements.
