With the rapid development of LC passive telemetry systems and the rapid increase of its application, the research on microelectronics for high performance LC passive wireless sensor has become a hotspot of MEMS.With its excellent properties such as smaller in size,battery-free and wireless which make highly useful in applications that require the sensor to be powered remotely and to occupy a small volume, such as harsh and sealed environments. The LC passive wireless sensor is studied based on theoretical analysis and software simulation here to obtain high sensitivity. An Inductor-Capacitor(LC)passive wireless telemetry system consists of LC resonant circuit and an external readout coil. The overview of how sensitivity which affected by the parameters of the LC resonant circuit is given.Key parameters that influence the sensitivity of sensor noticed are an inductor, capacitor, resistor and substrate material.According to the analysis of the sensitivity of the LC sensing system, the inductor plays a critical role and has a strong impact on the performance of the system. Then, the schematic model and layout model are established with the ADS software. The parameters that affect the sensitivity and Q-factor and basic sensing principle are analyzed by simulation.By changing the capacitance, the number of turns and the width, the suggestions of the design of high sensitivity LC telemetry systems are given. It can be concluded that by increasing the capacitance and number of turns, the resonance frequency, and Q factor is decreased but if we increase the width, resonance frequency and Q-factor increase. Therefore, high sensitivity LC telemetry system should have a small capacitance, less number of turns and larger width. Finally, several theoretical calculation results are given to verify the simulation results.
