With the rapid development of communication technologies, wireless communication technologies and wireless networks have been used more and more widely.Mobile multi-hop networks gradually become a hot topic,as a new network in the field of wireless communications.Mobile multi-hop wireless networks have a few special characters, such as instant deployment, strong environment adaptability and invulnerability and so on.As a result, mobile multi-hop wireless networks are used more and more widely in not only military applications but also civilian applications. However,a growing energy consumption of the network and the environmental pollution problems also come together with the wide usage.According to the relevant statistical analysis, the communication industries consume more than 20 billion KWH and the total power consumption is the 14th in various fields. And more than half of the total power consumption stems from the wireless network.Due to the problems above, how to reduce energy consumption and increase the energy efficiency is an urgent problem in mobile multi-hop networks. However, for the study of energy efficiency in mobile multi-hop networks, the standard of energy efficiency is simple. However,a specific metrics for green communications is conductive to assess the green technologies and qualify the gained benefit of resources. In this thesis, through the analysis of multi-hop wireless communication models,we propose the corresponding models of energy consumption and energy efficiency.Firstly, the energy-efficient routing algorithm based on the adaptive genetic algorithm.By analyzing the basic model for the multi-hop wireless communication and considering the retransmissions caused by the channel states in the network, the corresponding models of energy consumption and energy efficiency are proposed when the number of retransmissions is not limited. Then the routing algorithm in this thesis is proposed. The model of energy efficiency in the thesis considers the traffic, energy, time and spectrum together and is better than the existing one.The simulation results show that our approach can reflect the network performance more accurately.Secondly, this thesis studies the energy-efficient routing algorithm based on the hybrid adaptive ant colony optimization. In order to reflect the network more accurately, both the retransmission and the maximum number of retransmissions are considered. Then based on these, the network performances in the wireless network are analyzed in detail. Then by applying the new energy efficiency metric,an optimization model is built up to maximize the energy efficiency of multi-hop networks.Based on the optimization model, the energy efficiency routing is also proposed in this thesis. This algorithm consists two parts, namely the adaptive ant colony optimization routing and the Greedy algorithm routing respectively. At last, the proposed method in this thesis is tested and verified by the simulations.
