The implementation of the broadband China strategy has speed up the broadband network infrastructure construction and improved the network access bandwidth. Fiber-Wireless broadband access network is one of the most promising technologies in the next generation of broadband access network with the characteristic of high speed, low cost, wide coverage, high reliability and flexible access, etc. Research of key issues such as network performance and resource utilization as well as Quality of Service(Qo S) is of great significance to promote the development of broadband access network. Meanwhile, Network coding technique can effectively improve the network performance and energy efficiency. In order to alleviate the burden of the localization traffic to broadband access network bandwidth resources, NC technology is introduced into the broadband access network effectively. In consideration of energy consumption problem of Fi Wi network and the advantages of NC technology improved network performance, we introduce NC technology to Fi Wi network effectively, and research energy saving efficiency at the same time. In addition, the hardware-in-the-loop simulation network is close to the real network environment and has higher reliability of simulation. This paper also builds a semi-physical simulation platform of Fi Wi network which lays a foundation for the mechanism of Fi Wi network implemented in the platform later. The main work is divided into the following sections:(1) The paper put forward an NC-based transmission mechanism in Fi Wi network, which can make the inter-domain traffic and intra-domain traffic of Fi Wi networks being encoded at different nodes. The mechanism can decrease transmission delay and improve network throughput by reducing occupation of bandwidth. The mechanism is effectively verified by OPNET simulation platform.(2) A packet queue coding based energy saving control mechanism in Fi Wi network is proposed in this paper. Bandwidth utilization could be improved and occupation of cache in ONU MPP could be reduced through packet queue coding. Meanwhile, ONU MPP sleeping control based on packet queue coding can effectively improve energy efficiency of the network. Finally, we verified the proposed method by simulation.(3) The paper set up a semi-physical simulation platform of Fi Wi network after analysis of the simulation model SITL in OPNET. We make the self-built simulation nodes connect to external real network equipments through the improved SITL model then realize the communication of ICMP packets in this semi-physical simulation platform ultimately. Therefore, it provides more effective testing platform for follow-up study.
