Virtualization in cloud computing is a beneficial concept for all sizes of companies and organizations.It brings the better management of technology assets.Virtualization enables us to create virtual machines(VM)that share the hardware resources but perform the function as a totally new and different entity over the network.The creating of virtual machines provides the flexibility over computing resource usage.Virtual machines are the instances of an operating system which run in an isolated part of the computer.With the advancement in usage of virtualization,virtual machines are used in a very wide aspect to provide services.Virtual machine migration is an important technology to manage virtual machines and computing resources.VM migration is in fact the process of shifting different instances of operating systems across different physical machines.It is beneficial for system maintenance,fault management and it helps to reduce the energy and resource consumption.A virtual machine allocation strategy based on genetic algorithm is proposed.First it=randomly selects a number of physical hosts from the existing physical hosts as the initial population,and then calculates the fitness of each physical host,select operator,crossover operator and mutation operator in physical population of each host.Finally it builds the next generation of population,and cycles the above steps until reaching the termination conditions,thus the selected physical host will be allocated to the virtual machine.This method can reduce the migration again after migration,also will be effective in terms of data center load balancing optimization,tilt data centers to avoid a load condition,ensure the running on the virtual cluster the stability and reliability of cloud services,because of reducing the number of virtual machine migration again at the same time.It also makes the data center greatly reduce the energy consumption,for enterprises to reduce operating costs,and reduce carbon emissions.The virtual machine allocation strategy based on genetic algorithm has been simulated by CloudSim,according to the results of the experiment,the energy consumption and virtual machine redistribution have been effectively reduced,the stability of cloud services has improved.
