The media system is formed by the interaction between different media agencies and different media practices, including all media and their organizations in a particular social and political system.Generally speaking, the operation of the media system is based on the nation-state.Daniel C.Hallin and Paolo Mancini, based on their empirical studies of 18 countries in Western Europe and North America, proposed a framework for comparing media systems:the development of media market, political parallelism, the development of journalistic professionalism and the degree and nature of state intervention. They accordingly put forward three models of media and politics:the Mediterranean or Polarized pluralism, the Nordth/Central European or Democratic Corporatist Model and the North Atlantic or Liberal Model. The thesis uses the "four dimensions" as the analytical framework to explore the application of these three models in India by reading the reports of the official website of Times of India on the incident of 2017 China-India border standoff. The thesis mainly analyzes those reports from six aspects such as the number of reports, length of the report, topic of the report, press location, news source, attribution and key words. It also discusses the relationship between Indian media and politics. The study finds that on the coverage of the incident of 2017 China-India border standoff, the official website of Times of India prefers to use a single source, uses more anonymous sources, relies heavily on government sources, and is almost consistent with the government in attitude and position. For this case, whether it reveals the peculiarity of international reporting or demonstrates the strong impact of government intervention still need further exploration.Despite the focus on the government's stance, the official website of Times of India closely follows hotspots in the reporting process, making comprehensive use of multimedia and social networking to present diverse reporting formats.
