With the increasing number of Internet users, higher requirements for bandwidth are driving the network structure to be more and more complex.Except for traditional HTTP and FTP services, delay and bandwidth sensitive streaming media service are consuming majority of internet bandwidth.QoS of these new services depends on the network robustness and transmission reliability, which relies on a stable routing structure. The ability of monitoring data paths becomes a necessity in network operation. However, current technology and commercial products are not qualified to solve this problem.A path monitoring technology for the wide area network was proposed in this thesis.calculation of the routing path, the MPLS/OpenFlow tunnel path and the mixed path is realized by tracking the routing table and link state information in network.this is also the basis for locating abnormal locations. The application of the new technology focuses on two aspects:first,we can calculate the data transmission path through splicing routing entries in each node's routing table, not depending on listening routing updates and local calculation.this guarentees the time efficiency and accuracy. On the other hand, abnormal path segments could be identified when there were breaking paths or routing loops.A PEDL(Path Error Detection and on Location)application based on SDN controller was built to fullfill the above functions.A front-end display system was also developed for the convenece ofvisibility.a group of test cases were carried out in an experimental network, and the results verified the functions and efficiency of the proposed scheme.
