High-resolution radars have advantages such as the high range resolution and strong anti-jamming capability.Wideband linear frequency modulation(LFM)signals are widely adopted in the high-resolution radars.Thus,studying on high accuracy motion parameter estimation algorithm for the wideband LFM radar is important to target tracking,target imaging and target recognition.In this article,we focus on signal distortion correction and motion parameter estimation.The main objectives of our work can be summarized as follows:(1)The models of the ideal wideband LFM signal and the distorted one are presented.The traditional correction method and the novel correction method are introduced and discussed.Then,a novel frequency domain correction method is proposed.Experimental results show the effectiveness and significant performance of the proposed method.(2)The disadvantages of the traditional methods are pointed out via the analysis of the traditional motion parameter estimation methods.The motion parameter estimation methods in recent years are also presented and analyzed.Those methods are usually based on the matched-filtered echo signal or the original received echo signal instead of the stretched signal,which is widely adopted in wideband LFM radar system.In view of above situation,a novel instantaneous velocity estimation and fast acceleration estimation method based on stretched echo signal is proposed in this article.The performance of the proposed method is analyzed,and the lower bound of the root-square-means for the proposed method is derived.The simulations include the confirmatory experiment of the proposed method and the comparison experiment between the proposed method and the other method.In addition,the experimental results with real radar data show the effectiveness of the proposed method again.(3)In order to reduce the large computational cost of the proposed method in practical radar applications,the single tone parameter estimation method is employed for motion parameter estimation.Besides,an improved signal parameter estimation method is proposed to reduce the computational cost with little loss of performance.The experimental result shows the effectiveness and performance of the proposed method.
