Although the distortions do not affect the clarity of the target image, directly affect thegeometrical position accuracy of the target. In order to improve the accuracy of patternmatching and image detection accuracy, it has very important significance to correct distortionfor infrared imaging system which widely used in civil, military and other fields.This paper described metric calibration methods are always more stable and give betterresults than non-metric methods thus showing its feasibility. The accuracy of cameracalibration and distortion model selection model directly influences the accuracy of distortioncorrection. Because of the particularity of infrared rays, in order to provide an accurate objectplane, it is necessary to carry out optimization design for calibration templates which used indistortion measurement for infrared imaging system.Through analyzing the principle, reasons of error and improve technique of traditionaldistortion measuring method. This paper proposed distortion correction scheme for infraredimaging system, which composed of distortion board, infrared resistance calibration point,detector, two-dimensional mobile platform and cabinet. We can calculate lens distortionaccording to the different position between predicted image point and real image pointcombined with distortion models.Modal analysis is done by Pro/MECHANICA. The natural frequency and the first fourvibration models of the distortion board are obtained. The analysis results show the weak linkof the structure and reliable foundations are provided for the optimization design of thestructure. The article proposes the net distributed reinforcing rib. The modal analysis resultsshow that the presented optimization design has comparatively high natural frequency andmeet flatness requirement, so it will produce a better measurement performance.This paper compared related theories of ideal optical system with actual optical system,than clarified and verified the cause of distortion and the relationship between distortion andaperture. Mathematical relation between primary distortion and parameters of optical systemderived from aberration theory, than verified primary distortion is proportional to the cube offield angle, thus theoretical foundations are provided for establishing distortion model. Thispaper also described decentering distortion, and prism distortion which introduced by tolerances of processing and installing.This paper explained some common distortion model, and then we compare lensdistortion models by establishing a common criterion by using software ZEMAX to define thevalidity and accuracy on the platform of software MATLAB; finally, explored the way toimprove fitting accuracy of distortion models.
