With the increasing international exchanges and rapid development in technology,the society has higher requirementson college students' English Language capability.In order to adapt to the new developments of higher education and to meet the personnel needs of the state and society in the new era,the Ministry of Education issued College English Curriculum Requirements(Trial)to guide university English teaching reform designed to improve the integrated English language competence of college students.The teaching reform aims to promote English teaching based on network technology by dint of advanced modern educational technology.This is the inevitable result of the development of modern information technology.This study focuses on the design and implementation of an English self-learning platform based on the constructivist teaching model.It studies the individual needs of"teaching" and "learning" based on the existing neuron model and proposed a constructivist self-learning model based on RBF algorithm,which pays equal attention to both teaching and learning and strives to give full play to both the leading role of teachers and the cognitive subject role of students.The proposed model pays attention to not only the teachers' teaching but also the students' learning,which inspires the initiative and enthusiasm of both the teachers and the students.The main research work of this study is as follows:1.Analysis of the status quo of the research and application of network English self-learning platform at home and abroad;analysis of the application of the constructivist teaching model in English teaching process(learner test,evaluating learner,arranging teaching program,learner self-learning,finishing self-learning assignment,further test of the evaluation process);analysis of the application of traditional teaching methods in computer multimedia network teaching(resource management,courseware management,personnel management,study status tracking and management);design of the platform architecture and formulation of standards for the design of relevant software modules based on the above analyzed three features.2.Analysis of English self-learning characteristics;establishment of neuron model and RBF algorithm to determine the logical relationships amongthe methods,time,content,and effects during the English self-learning process so as to determine the most suitable individual plans for learners.3.Research and development of an English self-learning platform that evolves the whole process of English learning;development of individualized teaching plans to allow students to achieve the best results within the shortest period of time against their individual weaknesses;configuration adjustments and improvements of the supporting devices of the software platform based on customer feedbacks.Based on the analysis of teaching personality from the perspective of the neural network RBF algorithm and the English self-learning model based on the constructivist teaching model,this study establishesan English self-learning model,and designs and develops a self-learning software platform.The platform is well received byrelevant education sectorsand teachers and students after applied in schools,providing a viable and effective choice for people in their future English learning.
