With the rise of cloud computing,large-scale data center continues to spring up,while the interactive mechanism between data centers are becoming increasingly complicated.In addition to achieve the previous bandwidth and delay requirements,the interconnection between data centers are required to communicate in simulated layer 2 network.This demand was called DCI(Data Center Interconnection).VPLS is a solution aimed at simulating a layer 2 channel on existing WAN links.However,the widespread adoption of Ethernet L2 VPN services and the advent of new applications for DCI have culminated in a new set of requirement that not really addressable by the current VPLS solution.So,BGP/MPLS-Based Ethernet VPN was proposed,integrated with L2 and L3 services,which provides an IP-VPN-like operation with flow-based multi-homing/multi-pathing,optimal multi-destination and fast convergence.This thesis mainly studies the approach of designing and implementing of EVPN functions.For this purpose,the paper starts with introducing the key technologies of the current MPLS L2 VPN and MPLS L3 VPN.After that,a detailed research was carried out to understand the specific working procedures of control plane and data plane in a simple and fairly common scenario.At the end,we come to conclude the advantages of EVPN and point out the existing problems.Based on theoretical research,this thesis firstly put forward the demand analysis and the outline design.The function is separated into several modules and the interaction between these modules was designed in detail.For control plane,we finnaly realize the EVPN module and MP-BGP extention module functions.Given that the EVPN data forwarding is based on hardware tables,some hardware tables need to be created and some other need to be redesigned.Besides,the specific forwarding procedure of ingress PE and egress PE was described with two flow charts.By specific experimental testing of EVPN function with EVPN module integrated in switching system,the approach proposed in this thesis is proved to be feasible.
