Wrong way to use front light, while driving at night, would affect drivers on the opposite side of the road, who can't recognize their road and situation around. It would lead to unsafe traffic accident.Visible cameras can collect clear images that are easy for human to see,but the images will cause halation phenomenon. The details of images collected by infrared cameras are unclear, but show the driving situation of vehicle.Combination of two kinds of cameras images can eliminate halation phenomenon and show details of images. This paper studies how to solve halation problem using image fusion at pixel level, and propose an anti-halation method using combination of visible light images and infrared images that can improve safety while driving at night. In order to eliminate affects caused by noise points, sizes of image templates and differ of space position, raw images are needed to be pre-processed by image filter and image registration. Then luminance component are extracted by IHS transform from visible images.Wavelet transform is implemented on infrared images.Result images can be obtain by using revers IHS transform to combination images of visible images and infrared images.By subjective assessment and objective data analysis on the result of image fusion algorithm on visible images and infrared images,it shows that the method in this paper improve spectrum distorting of traditional IHS transform and speed of wavelet transform. The result shows that the anti-halation method based on IHS transform and wavelet transform can improve halation phenomena effectively while driving at night. This paper also build a image infuse platform based on MATLAB GUI,which can realise images infuse method using different algorithm.
