The Design And Implementation Of Sales Recommendation System Based On Log Analysis

With the rapid development of data storage technology,the manufacturing cost of storage device falls sharply.Mass storage devices are used by more and more enterprises to storage huge amounts of data,such as emails,technology documentations,business data and so on.The used storage of devices will grow over time,especially for the devices which are used to backup data.EMC sells many storage products every year.A large part of these products are used to upgrade or replace old devices bought by customers.Customers will not upgrade or replace their old devices until they find that the devices are about to be full,then salesman of EMC will recommend products for customers according to the usage information of their devices.Passive way of service will lead to lack of timely response of sales department.And also,salesman cannot track every device of every customer because the total number of customers is so large.As a result,some potential sales opportunities will be missed.In the era where computer technology grows rapidly,computers can mostly handle the monitoring,analyzing and forecasting of data,which will reduce the manpower cost greatly.In order to improve the work efficiency of sales department and increase the sales volume and revenue of the company,we designed and developed a system called Sales Recommendation System.This system is based on MVC pattern of B/S structure with some mature frameworks such as Spring MVC,Hibernate,etc.The system will recommend sales opportunities to salesman automatically according to proper recommending strategy by analyzing the log data of storage devices and forecasting the growing rate of used capacity.As the expandiability and portability has been considered during the development,Sales Recommendation System can support forecasting usage and recommending products for various types of storage devices.In addition,the idea of generating sales opportunities by computers automatically in Sales Recommendation System can by applied to many other enterprises as well.
