Smartphone addiction is a new type of behavioral addiction that causes the excessive use of mobile phones and leads to impaired social functions and brings psychological and behavioral problems.Self-control is a category of psychology that is the ability to suppress impulses to respond appropriately.Academic procrastination is a common and persistent desire of learners to delay learning and is accompanied by anxiety.Smartphone addiction and academic procrastination are considered to be two important social problems facing middle school students.More scholars pay attention to and study these three phenomena.But research on the relationship between the three has hardly found anything.This study used the smartphone addiction scale,the middle school students' self-control questionnaire,and the middle school student's academic procrastination questionnaire as the measurement tools.A questionnaire survey was conducted on 420 middle school students to study the relationship between the three variables.the result of this research shows:(1)In the middle school students' smartphone addiction,there was no significant difference in gender,residence,only child,and in the day students and resident students.Total scores of smartphone addiction and negative effects in seventh grade were lower than in ninth grade.(2)In the middle school students' self-control,there was no significant difference whether they are day students or only children,and in the overall level of self-control among different genders.The level of thought control of girls was slightly higher than that of boys.The level of self-control in grade 7 was significantly lower than that in grade 8 and 9,which was mainly reflected in behavior control.(3)In the middle school students' academic delay,there is a significant gender difference.The overall level of female academic delay is slightly higher than that of males,but the test of each specific dimension is not significant.There is no difference in the demographic variable of day students.The delayed summary of non-only-child children is lower than that of only-child children,but there is no difference in the overall level.The dimensions of delayed execution in grade 7 were significantly higher than that in grade 8 and grade 9,while the differences in other dimensions among grades were not significant,and the differences among grades at the overall level were not significant.(4)The addiction of middle school students is negatively correlated with self-control.Middle school students' smartphone addiction is positively correlated with academic delay.Middle school students' self-control is a medium negative correlation with academic delay.(5)Self-control has a complete mediating effect between smartphone addiction and academic procrastination in middle school students;Emotion control has a partial mediating effect between smartphone addiction and academic procrastination;Behavior control has a complete mediating effect between smartphone addiction and academic procrastination.
