In China,the drum culture in Yunnan is unique.With a variety of types and a wide range of applications,drums are closely related to the lives of people of all ethnic groups in Yunnan and are an indispensable part of local culture.The peacock drum mentioned in this paper,an innovative ethnic percussion instrument,is a modern product of the traditional drum culture in Yunnan.Peacock drum is simple to operate and has a distinct rhythm,which is in line with the characteristics of strong curiosity and practice among middle school students,and is suitable for middle school music teaching.Therefore,under the guidance of the school-based curriculum theory,the paper takes the local music culture of Yunnan as the curriculum resource,and the three-in-one teaching mode of "beating,singing and dancing" of peacock drum as the carrier to develop the school-based curriculum of middle school music.At the same time,combining with the practical experience of the author,taking No.24 middle school(Dacheng campus)in Kunming city Yunnan province as the practice base,this paper analyzes the implementation effect of school-based curriculum of peacock drum music,summarizes the curriculum model,and makes it extensive and sustainable.There are four parts in this paper: first of all is the school-based curriculum development background of peacock drum music,describes of the necessity of the development of school-based curriculum and the reasons to choose the peacock drum to develop school-based curriculum mainly in the following four aspects: the degree of attention the nation pays on the development of school-based curriculum;the current embarrassment situation the school faces;the characteristics of the peacock drum;and the field surveys of the teaching results in No.24 middle school(Dacheng campus)in Kunming city Yunnan province.The second part is the related theory of school-based curriculum development of peacock drum music.The third part is the implementation of the school-based curriculum of peacock drum music,which mainly consists of three parts: the preparation,implementation process and evaluation after implementation.The fourth part is the summary of the problems exist in the development and implementation process and the future prospects of school-based curriculum development of peacock drum.
