The relationship between professional degree masters and their supervisors became a crucial topic in the research of postgraduate education and was one of urgent theoretical and practical problems requiring for responses,as the enrollment of professional degree postgraduates were increasing both in types and numbers,and the country with its official documents were requiring higher qualities of the supervisors.Regarding professional degree masters as subjects,this dissertation analyzed the status quo of the relationship between masters and their supervisors and managed to study the factors that influenced the relationship,as postgraduate education was an indispensable part in building world-class university and the research on relationship between masters and their supervisors was an indispensable part in boosting postgraduate education.This dissertation aimed to find out problems on the relationship between professional degree masters and their supervisors and to propose some suggestions to fix the alienation phenomenon between the masters and their supervisors,so as to form a harmonious relationship among them.Through reviewing the literature of relationship between masters and their supervisors and professional degree,the dissertation expounded the characteristics and defects of current researches.The interview method was used to summarize the interview information of 11 professional degree masters,and four kinds of the relationship types under different disciplines or supervisors were extracted.With content analysis method,the dissertation used the NVivo to re-split the interview manuscript,and conducted the attribution analysis of influencing factors of the relationship.Using interpretive structural modeling,the influence factors of the relationship were classified and thus came to following conclusions: firstly,the supervisors played an important role in assuring the quality of professional degree postgraduate education,and through the interview,the dissertation found the supervisors undertook the training of masters ' academic ability and professional skills.Secondly,the relationship between professional degree masters and their supervisors was a special type of teacher-student relationship,and the dissertation deduced four progressively changed types of it under the perspective of dynamic transformation: permanent unacquaintance and respect;from reverence to naturalness;from unacquaintance to familiarity;from detestation to admiration.Finally,masters ' academic ability was the direct factor that influenced the relationship between professional degree postgraduates and their supervisors,and the factors that played fundamental roles were masters ' interests,supervisors' characteristics and social occupations,subject attributes,and practice opportunities offered by universities.From all above the dissertation proposed several suggestions to improve the relationship between professional degree masters and their supervisors.
