Anxiety has been the popular topic in contemporary psychological area no matter treated as personal characteristics or emotional variants.Individual aggressive behavior may triggered by anxiety, and excessive aggressiveness can not only affect mental and physical well-being,but also encumber the development of a harmonious society.Previous studies show that, personal self-esteem level is negatively associated with aggressiveness.Which is to say, aggressive behavior may more frequently observed on individual with low self-esteem level. However, current data focused more on the link between personal characteristic and aggressive behavior, less attention was paid on emotional instability.Taking emotional change as a variant into consideration can better account aggressiveness and even lay a solid foundation for a systemic theoretical exposition on this issue.Interpretative bias is the key step in cognitive bias interpreting personal formation of a comprehensive cognitive complex. Therefore, aggressive behavior may originated from interpretative bias on aggressiveness in ambiguous situation. Our study take a further step in researching interpretive bias and account for the aggressive difference induced by anxiety in college students with different self-esteem levels. We asked the college students to finish the “Rosenberg scale” at the first step, then categorize the upper 27% and the lower 27% as participants with high and low self-esteem level.xperiment 1 divide the previously mentioned two groups into indubitable and conductible subgroups according to anxiety induction program. Then implement a gaming mode while competing to observe the aggressive behavior difference between each group.xperiment 2 using an off-line measuring method between indubitable and conductible subgroups to compare interpretative bias difference for aggressiveness,so as to investigate the interpretative bias on ambiguous situations.xperiment 3 using an on-line method to investigate the difference of interpretative bias between participant with different self-esteem level, indicating by reactive interval. Our research yield the following conclusions:(1)College students with low self-esteem level are clearly more aggressive after inducing anxiety.(2)Among low self-esteem students,anxiety-induced aggressiveness is more pronounced than non anxiety-induced ones;the difference in high self-esteem students group is not significant.(3)After anxiety induced low-esteem college students show greater off-line interpretive bias in aggressiveness than high self-esteem students.(4)Among low self-esteem students,anxiety-induced students show greater off-line interpretive bias in aggressiveness than non anxiety-induced students;while the difference in high self-esteem students group is not significant.(5)After anxiety induced low self-esteem college students show greater on-line interpretive bias in aggressiveness than high-esteem students.(6)Among low self-esteem students,anxiety-induced students show greater on-line interpretive bias in aggressiveness than non anxiety-induced students;while the difference in high self-esteem students group is not significant.
