Research On Social Service Of Southwest Associated University

As a collection of Peking University,Tsinghua University and Nankai University,Southwest Associated University naturally inherited the fine tradition and spirit of the three schools during the War of Resistance against Japan.The teachers and students actively applied their professional knowledge and skills and carried out various social service activities,such as serving agriculture,national industry,economic development,health,education and culture,wartime military services,increased industrial and agricultural production,the development of the local education culture,and more contributed to the War of Resistance against Japan.Due to limited space and ability,this paper will start with agricultural services and industrial services,and analyze in detail the social service activities of agricultural extension and mineral survey carried out in Yunnan by the agricultural research institute of Tsinghua University and the department of geology,college of science of Southwest Associated University,in order to provide some reference and inspiration for the social service of today's universities.On the basis of consulting the archives,documents and references of the predecessors in the period of the Republic of China,this paper discusses fthe following four aspects: first of all,the reasons and significance of this paper,research review,relevant concept definition and research methods are introduced.Secondly,a background introduction is made to the social service activities carried out by the Southwest Associated University,which mainly analyzes the necessity of social service from three aspects: the continuation of the traditional education spirit of our country,the need of the government's advocacy and the War of Resistance against Japan,and the introduction of American pragmatism.Third,it introduces the concrete measures of the Southwest Associated University for agricultural extension services.After analyzing the general situation of agricultural extension development in modern China and the development and difficulties of agricultural extension in Modern Yunnan,this paper discusses the agricultural extension practice activities of the Agricultural Research Institute of Tsinghua University from three aspects: the research and control of crops,diseases and insect pests and the application of plant physiology.Fourthly,it introduces the activities of the Southwest Associated University serving the national industry,which is manifested by the mineral survey carried out by the teachers and students of the Department of Geology along the threemajor railway lines of Xukun,Yunnan Myanmar and Yunnan Vietnam.Finally,it discusses the effectiveness and enlightenment of the social services of Southwest Associated University.
