The Value And Application The Analects In The Ideological And Political Education Of College Students

The excellent traditional Chinese culture constitutes the important source for carrying out the ideological and political education of college students.On the other hand,Confucian culture is the mainstay of the excellent traditional Chinese culture.Obviously,as the source of Confucian culture,The Analects has a far-reaching influence on the Chinese culture.Although The Analects appeared more than two thousand years ago,it contains a lot of resources about ideological and political education,which still gives off its light of wisdom and truth even nowadays.Under the situation where the contents of the ideological and political education of college students are rather boring and the teaching effect is to be upgraded,the introduction of related contents of The Analects in hope of enriching the ideological and political education of college students can yet be regarded as a good choice,which is not only beneficial to giving play to the positive role of excellent traditional culture in the ideological and political education of college students but also feasible to bring in new contents for the construction of ideological and political courses characterized by innovation in the process of adhering to righteousness.Compared with previous researches,this thesis is different in research perspectives and contents because it is mainly focused on researching the value and application of The Analects in the ideological and political education of college students with The Analects as a starting point.The thesis has conducted a systematic and in-depth excavation of the resources about the ideological and political education of college students included in The Analects before summarizing the contents such as the outlook on life with “benevolence” as its core and the well-behaved awareness characterized bythe behavior guided by “etiquette” as well as the methods such as teaching students in accordance of their aptitude and taking pleasure in what is taught.Moreover,the thesis expounds on the value of The Analects applied in the ideological and political education of college students in a more detailed way.In addition,through the investigation of the current situation of the application of The Analects in the ideological and political education of college students,this research has found that the majority of higher learning institutions have not laid emphasis on its application.Even though some colleges or universities have began to make an attempt in this regard,they have not achieved good effect either because of the inadequate integration of The Analects with the contents of ideological and political courses in the process of its being introduced or because of the problems existing in the approaches and methods in the application of The Analects.The reasons for this situation include not only the continuous weakening of the influence of The Analects on the whole society but also the impact from modern multi-culture,the infestation caused by social transformation and the insufficiency of today's humanistic quality education.Therefore,this author has proposed six countermeasures as follows: Firstly,colleges and universities should earnestly value the role played by The Analects in the ideological and political education of college students.Secondly,the attitude of sublation should be adopted in the course of applying The Analects.Thirdly,attention is paid to the rational integration of The Analects with the teaching contents of ideological and political theory courses.Fourthly,efforts are made to improve the literacy of traditional culture on the part of college teachers.Fifthly,it is advisable that The Analects should become the important content of the cultural construction in college campuses.Sixthly,the attractive cultural network education platform of The Analects should be constructed.This author hopes that the research result of the thesis can provide a certain reference for the introduction of traditional culture including The Analects to the ideological and political education of college students and may also be of some referential and inspirational value to the teachers engaged in teaching the ideological and political courses in colleges and universities.
