With the football games getting increasingly intense, the tackling skills are being used more frequently.Tackling skills has the characteristics of being abrupt, hidden, intimidating, and can defense a large area, making it important in the games. This paper analyzed the tackles in 52 games during the group stage and knockout stage of the 2019 Women's World Cup.Methods like literature study, questionnaire study, video observation, mathematical statistics, case analysis were used, the counts of tackles, the distribution of time and moments of the tackle, the distribution of field areas and the position of the players when tackle happened, and the type of tackles used in the games were analyzed, and thus the similarities and differences and rules of in the tackling of different stages of the Women's World Cup summarized in this paper. The aim of this paper was to provide theoretical reference for Chinese women's football team to improve their using of tackles. The conclusions of the study are as below:1.The success rate of tackling in the knockout stage was higher than that in the group stage, showing that the players of the former stage have better tackling skills.Besides, affected by the single-elimination tournaments, the players were more cautious in using tackles and care more about the actual effects.2.In the group stage and knockout stage, tackles are more used in the second and fourth quarter. This is because that the players use tackles to strengthen defense as the pace of the game accelerates. The success rate of tackling was lower by the end of the second half, and this might be related to the declines of players' physical performance and the using of tactical tackles.3.Tackles are used more in the group stage and knockout stage. This shows that the tackles are still used more in the defense positions, while the success rate of tackling in the transition between offense and defense positions were higher. This also shows that players can use tackles reasonably to effectively defend or take the ball from the opponent during the transition of offense and defense positions.4.In the group and knockout stages, tackles and poke tackles were used more and the success rates were higher;block tackle and pass tackleswere used less and the success rate is lower, which shows that the players have a better mastery of defensive tackles. The success rate of tackling in the group stage is lower than that in the knockout stage. This is because that the players used more tackles in the passive and unprotected situations in the group stage, which lowered the success rate.5.The success rate of the tackle of the full-back in the knockout stage was higher than that in the group stage, which was because the full-backs usually use the tackle in the knockout stage to disturb or block the shooting angle.By reducing the technical difficulties of tackling, the success rate could be improved.6.The success rates of tackling in the backcourt area in the group stage and knockout stage were higher than that in other areas, which shows that players used tackles more reasonably in the backcourt. The more the count of tackles in the midfield, the more is that in the knockout stage. This shows that without the influence of the competition system, the players in the group stage should use the tackles actively to defend in the midfield, but it's essential to improve the success rate of the tackle there.7.Compared with the previous Women's World Cup,tackles were less used but with higher success rate in this year's games. This shows that the uses of tackles in this tournament were reasonable. |
