Chinese homework is a kind of purposeful and designed learning activities assigned by Chinese teachers,and students should use their extracurricular time to complete these learning tasks by themselves.During the New Curriculum Reform,many Chinese teachers have focused on how to improve classroom teaching patterns and have paid less attention on the arrangement of Chinese homework.In November2019,the Opinion that the Ministry of Education on Improving and Ameliorating the Teaching and Research in Basic Education in the New Age was issued,and some key points in this document such as curriculum,teaching,homework and examination evaluation must be strengthened in the future.It can be seen that homework is an essential link in the classroom teaching process.It's also an effective method to continue teaching activities and a direct feedback to test students' learning results.For a long time,Chinese teachers have been influenced by the traditional educational concept and the examination standards of examination-oriented education.So the arrangement of Chinese homework was restricted to the consolidation of knowledge and the after-class practice.Due to the lack of scientific,reasonable and effective arrangement of Chinese homework,the majority of students became bored and slipshod while doing their homework.This phenomenon could negatively affect students' academic performance,being vulnerable to their physical and mental health.Therefore,how to mitigate the previous repercussion and lessen students' burden has become pressing.Research approaches including literature research,questionnaire and interview have been employed to accomplish this thesis.The author investigated Chinese teachersand their students to figure out the present situation of Chinese homework arrangement in the senior grade of three primary schools in C city from four aspects: the quantity of homework,the content of homework,the type of homework and the correction of homework.After analyzing the findings of the survey systematically,the author found that the current arrangement of Chinese homework in the senior grade of primary school has been improved.But there are still some hidden problems including the excessive quantity of homework,the lack of hierarchical content of homework,the single written form of homework and the dated traditional correction way of homework.The above problems result from teachers are overworked and they have no time for quality work,the students' deviation in homework recognition,the parents' excessive attention to students' test scores and the deficiency of feedback system of homework correction in schools.According to the analysis of the cause and effect,The following proposals can be floated from four aspects: teachers,students,parents and schools.Teachers should arrange homework in accordance with the requirements of the New Curriculum Reform;students should improve the autonomy of completing homework;parents should set up scientific views of education and schools should enhance the supervision of homework.The research aims to provide a strategic reference for further standardizing the arrangement of Chinese homework and improving the quality of Chinese homework in primary schools.
