Based on programing of Olympiad in Informatics, this essay discussed the significance of learning interest in programing and analyzed the research in this field. The competition-oriented teaching and learning lead to a loss of interest in programing and a keen interest in winning a prize, which is harmful to the healthy development of informatics competition as a whole.Interest is the impetus of every learning activity.Learning interest starts with motives, which comes from some incentive.Interests can develop and change. Thus, the change of incentive in students' learning demand and courses is important.Guided by learning motives and interest of educational theory, this essay analyzed the different stages of changes of inner needs and exterior incentive, studied the strategies and measures to stimulate and maintain learning interest in programing. The essay developed five modules of programing teaching: basic knowledge, computing language, data structure and common computing;and categorized learning interest into four stages: getting to know, feeling fun, experiencing the joy, making a hobby. The modules and interest stages are correlated, with their own distinctive features.Through phase analysis of interest change and impetus change, the essay explored possible impetus control strategies and measures: universal impetus control and phase impetus control and the combining of the two.Through process observation and follow-up survey, the author came to the conclusion that application of the strategies and measures in real programing teaching practice can effectively stimulate and maintain students' interest.
