ObjectiveThe purpose of this study is to explore the effect of two kinds of post-activation potentiation(PAP)protocols with different inducement intensities on blocking height of college volleyball players.and to explore the optimal warm-up protocol suitable for improving the explosive force of college volleyball players before the competition and training,so as to provide reference for same-level athletes to play at a high level faster in training and competition.MethodsA randomized cross-over study design was carried out on fourteen college volleyball players(male)who had strength training. This experiment was divided into two weeks, and adopted the PAP protocols of 80%one repetition maximum[1RM]or 60%1RM(five times per session, three sessions, take a break for one minute per session).During the experiment,I measured the blocking height and parallel moving blocking height on the dominant side of the subjects at the fourth minute, the eighth minute and the twelfth minute before and after using PAP protocals. After one week'washout, the two types of inducement intensities and test contents were interchanged in sequence, then I crossed and repeated the above experiment.ResultsOne-way ANOVA was adopted to determine the influence of the same PAP protocal on the blocking height and the parallel moving blocking height on the dominant side at different time points. The results showed that there was no significant difference between the blocking height and parallel moving blocking height on the dominant side at different time points(four minutes, eight minutes, twelve minutes)after the two PAP protocals of inducement intensities(80%1RM or 60%1RM)(P>0.05),and there was no significant difference between the blocking height and parallel moving blocking height on the dominant side at different time points(Base-four minutes,Base-eight minutes,Base-twelve minutes, four minutes-eight minutes, four minutes-twelve minutes,8 min-twelve minutes)(P>0.05).Repeated measure ANOVA was adopted to determine the effects of different points in time on subjects blocking height and parallel moving blocking height on the dominant side. The results showed that there was no difference in the effect of the two PAP protocols with 80%1RM and 60%1RM on blocking height and parallel moving blocking height on the dominant side.ConclusionsThis study confirmed that the PAP protocols of 80%1RM and 60%1RM can not significantly improve the blocking height of athelets. However, there were relatively significant differences in individuals on PAP protocols. So if coaches want to use PAP protocol to improve athletes'performance, they should find their own optimal PAP protocol to maximize the effect of PAP.
