Since the birth of the university,the discipline has been complementary to the university.Disciplines are an important part of universities.Universities also combine disciplines to train talents,and promote the development,differentiation,and integration of disciplines under the interaction with academic research.This explains why in the development of academic specialization today,universities use specific categories of knowledge as a specialized subject for teaching.When defining the term "discipline",it not only emphasizes the classification of knowledge,but also cannot ignore the fact that the research results of the discipline serve as the carrier of the development of the discipline.Under the social background of different periods,text analysis of books and academic articles in the subject field,and on this basis,summarize the characteristics of the development stage of higher education management,and divide the development of China's higher education management into four stage:Before the reform and opening up,many well-known university principals had some reflections on the management of higher education in the process of running schools,and the government and schools also carried out many higher education management activities.But in general,the starting point of higher education management research in China is still very backward,there is no professional research team,no organization system research,and there are no papers and books on higher education management.But these thoughts in the practice of running a school have opened the way for the practical exploration of higher education management.After the reform and opening up,with the recovery and reconstruction of various disciplines,research organizations across the country have also continuously established and conducted orderly research activities.The convening of the Liuzhou Conference in 1985 set off an upsurge in learning and researching higher education management theory.The germination of subject consciousness prompted the transformation of China's higher education management research from empirical decision making to scientific decision making.The works of higher education management during this period showed the characteristics of a complementary system of macro research and micro research,and the characteristics of an initial system.Scholars continue to absorb the beneficial experience of higher education management at home and abroad,systematize and logicalize the experience of China's higher education management since the founding of the People's Republic of China,and sublimate it to a theoretical level.Chinese higher education management has gradually become a "discipline".With the deepening of reform and opening up in the late 1980 s,the research progress of related disciplines in the world has continuously spread to the country,bringing new disciplinary concepts and scientific research methods,and promoting the scientific and standardized development of domestic higher education management disciplines.During this period,the research vision of higher education management focused on the construction of disciplines and the analysis and analysis of basic concepts,and achieved many research results.The work has also changed from a single experience system to several models for parallel development.At this time,researchers also tried to explore the subordinate disciplines of higher education management from a new direction,opening up a new development path.After entering the 21 st century,facing the new era and social challenges,it is urgent to provide effective theoretical guidance for the practice of higher education management in close contact with existing problems.Therefore,the works of this period focused on the research of existing problems based on the continuation of the previous system.Through extensive analysis of higher education management practices and practical problems,the discipline research paradigms that penetrated into the key links of higher education management activities were determined.At the same time,the construction of a team of professional researchers in higher education management has also achieved a major breakthrough,making the development of the discipline present a new trend.As a discipline that is still mature,China's higher education management inevitably has a lack of close relationship between theory and practice,the generalization of the discipline theory is not strong,the discipline system lacks standardization,relies mainly on acceptance,lacks reflection and doubt,Research methods lack innovation and other shortcomings.But it is foreseeable that with the continuous development of the educational environment,China's higher education management will further update its concepts and show more new features.Higher education management in line with China's national conditions will continue to adapt and transform the environment.Continuous improvement in the process.
