Simone Beauvoir is an outstanding French existentialist philosopher, writer and feminist in the 20 th century. She is a leading figure in the Women's Liberation Movement, which also called the second wave of feminism, from the late 1960 s that would have made great contributions to the protection and development of women's rights in the world.Beauvoir's feminist thought has an important enlightenment significance. It provides a powerful theoretical tool for the modern feminist movement and promotes the awakening of modern female consciousness. The Second Sex,her representative work,is called the "Bible" of feminism. It describes the gender inequality of women's status as "others" from the perspectives of biology, psychology and religion etc,and then profoundly analyzes the main reasons for women's oppression, and finally comes to the conclusion that " women are not born, but formed after the day.".Beauvoir's feminism is deeply influenced by historical materialism,Marxist feminism,as well as by the philosophy of Hegel,Heidegger,Sartre, etc.it is Feminism under the framework of Marxism existentialism.Based on the background of the formation of Beauvoir's feminist theory and the dilemma of the protection of women's rights in contemporary China, this paper discusses the basic content, rationality and limitations of Beauvoir's feminist theory, and reveals the enlightenment of Beauvoir's feminist theory on women's liberation in China. The theory of Beauvoir's feminism is helpful to further improve and protect women's rights of freedom and equality, and to promote the harmonious development of our society. The paper is divided into five chapters. The first chapter is the introduction, mainly including purpose, significance and status at home and abroad of the research. The second chapter summarizes the basic concepts and theories, clarifies the connotation of patriarchy, feminism and Marxist feminism, analyzes the relationship between Beauvoir' s feminism and Marxist feminism, and summarizes the thought process and philosophical source of Beauvoir's feminism. The third chapter analyzes the basic content of Beauvoir's feminist thought. The status of women's attachment is manifested as "the second sex",that is,women are attached to men's power and patriarchy, and they lose or partially lose their subjective personality. The second sex is embodied in the following aspects: in childhood, women's bodies are regarded as inferior;in marriage and childbirth, marriage becomes women's means of livelihood, and giving birth to children becomes women's physiological fate;in housework, women spend a lot of energy, enclosed in the "family";in education and culture, women are subject to "femininity".The second sex rooted in patriarchal culture and its remnants. The fourth chapter briefly evaluates the positive aspects and limitations of Beauvoir's feminist thought. In the fifth chapter, the paper mainly analyzes the enlightenment and experience of Beauvoir's feminism to solve the problem of women's equal social status in China. The author believes that in addition to the importance of social system construction and full protection of women's equal rights, the key lies in women's self love,self-esteem and self-improvement.Only when women actively develop themselves and dare to safeguard their equal rights can they realize their freedom.
