Research On General High School Students' Course Selection Of Physics Under The Background Of The New College Entrance Examination

The Ministry of Education has initiated the new reform of college entrance examination in the year of 2014.Nowadays 6 years has passed,many provinces have been carried out the reform.Zhejiang and Shanghai are the first batch which initiated the reform,and Peking,Tianjing,Hainan and Shandong are the second batch which initiated the reform in 2017.In these provinces,Shanghai adopted the method students pick 3 courses out of all the 6,which means,Chinese,Maths and English are required course.The other 3 elective courses will be chose from politics,history,geography,physics,chemistry and biology.While Zhejiang adopted the method students pick 3 courses out of 7,which included technology.The provinces in the second batch were keeping adopted the method “3+3”,These 4 provinces adjust measures to local conditions,policies might differ from different situations in these provinces.But the method like this exposed the problem that few students were willingly to choose physics.Many students might avoid choosing physics because it's too hard for them.They just want to get in college.Therefor,most provinces have attach importance to this problem.Provinces originally scheduled for initiating the new college entrance examination reform in 2018 gained experience from previous provinces which have already carried out the reform.They adopted the method of “3+1+2”.This means the3 required courses were the same as method “3+3”,however students have to choose one course from physics and history,the last two courses will be chose from biology,chemistry,politics,geography,and carried out unified assigning points policies.This method sublimate new college entrance project.But there were still 10 provinces putoff the reform due to problems might occur during implementing the process of the reform.The system of new college entrance examination was immature,nor fit for local education condition.Sichuan was one of the provinces had put off the reform.Sichuan will initiate the reform in 2021,but it still remains uncertainty if any problem,especially in physics-course-choosing aspect,could happen during the process of reforming.This research is aimed at propagandizing new college entrance examination policies among the students.So far by now,researches about physics-course-choosing in mountainous area where basic education is weak such as Sichuan were almost blank.Students in mountainous area are special compare to those in coastal area.They do not know much about local new college entrance examination policies,nor do not have obscure learning motivation.They were also lack of planning for the future.We hope this research could point out a direction in course-choosing for students,also can provide some data support for the future new college entrance examination in Sichuan province,especially in the field of physics.Main phases in this research:Sampling phase: taking an example of the First High School of Sichuan Gongxian County,we designed a questionnaire about what might influence students choosing physics course.Aspects included gender,physics learning time and understanding depth,studying aim,interest,teacher's own quality and so on.Then we conducted a random-selected survey on three types of students,which are Grade One(before and after division of Arts and Sciences)and Grade Two.Data processing phase: Analysising and organizing the results from the questionnaire,get the data required.Data organizing factor included two aspects: subjective and objective.Objective factor includes gender and physics learning time and understanding depth,subjective factor includes studying aim,interest and teacher's own quality.Analysising phase: Based on the data,we can analysis what might influence students choosing courses from subjective and objective reasons.Then give practical advice later.Main conclusions in this research: Aspect of gender: Boys seem have more opportunity to choose physics.Aspect of physics learning time and understanding depth: Opportunities gain with the knowledge of physics gains.The intention ofselecting courses in physics is also on the rise.Aspect of studying aim: most of students have quite unequivocal studying aim.Learn more knowledge,get in college.And it also turns out that students who have quite unequivocal studying aim would have more opportunity to choose physics.Aspect of interest: the more interest students get in,the more opportunity for students to choose physics.Though a few students don't have much interest in physics,they would consider about the practicability of physics and choose it.Aspect of teacher's own quality: those teachers who have novel teaching methods and are good at guiding would be more welcomed among students.
