Different countries and regions around the world have made breakthrough in the study of students' core literacy since 1990.In the Opinions of the Ministry of Education on Comprehensively Deepening Curriculum Reform to Implement the Fundamental Task of Cultivating People with Morality issued in 2014,it clearly puts forward the development of the core literacy system of Chinese students and revises the subject curriculum plan and curriculum standard.In 2018,the Ministry of Education formally promulgated the Geography Curriculum Standard for Senior High School(2017 Edition),marks the formal beginning of the new-round curriculum reform based on the core literacy of the subject,with the goal of fostering virtue in education.Since then,the research on the cultivation and implementation of geographical core literacy,educational model,educational methods,educational evaluation methods and other changes has been growing vigorously.Most teachers often carry out teaching activities with "unit" and "class hour" in the teaching materials,In the Core Literacy calls for large Unit Teaching Design,Professor Cui Yunhuo put forward the concept of "subject core literacy-oriented teaching promotes the traditional 'unit' and 'class hour' teaching to be transformed into large unit teaching" in 2019.Inspired by he,the relevant data during the educational practice is collected and investigated in this paper,and on the basis of Gestalt psychology,Constructivist teaching theory,Dewey's empiricism theory,modern teaching theory and core literacy of the subject,the connotation,characteristics and research status of the key contents such as core literacy of the subject,core literacy of geography and large unit teaching through the method of literature research combes in this paper.Through investigatigates current teaching situation of geography teachers in high school and their understanding of large unit teaching in the form of questionnaire,which finds that teachers do not know well about the teaching strategy and design of large units,and even worse,teachers lack practice in teaching.Therefore,this paper combines the requirements of the new curriculum reform with the large unit teaching,and puts forward the large unit teaching strategies of high school geography under the core literacy of the subject.Through the case study method,based on the geography curriculum standard of 2003 edition and Geography Required 1 of Hunan Education Edition released in 2004 and using by Heilongjiang Province as an example to carry out "Hydrology" Unit the teaching design and practice of large unit teaching.Besides,it applies the educational experiment method in educational practice to test the large unit teaching,which is of great significance to improve students' interest in geography learning and cultivate students' core literacy of geography.Finally,based on the new geography curriculum standard of 2017 edition and the new geography teaching material of 2019,takes the "Atmosphere" large unit in Geography Required 1 of People's Education Edition and "Settlement" large unit in Geography Required 2 of China Cartographic Publishing as an example,the case design of large unit teaching is carried out to provide reference for front-line teachers to carry out large unit teaching.
