With the deepening of educational reform in China,research-based learning has become a new highlight of curriculum reform in China.Compared with traditional teaching,research learning is permeated with the teaching concept of "pursuing excellence,never satisfied".It can be seen that research learning will occupy a more and more prominent position in the future educational activities.Gymnastics course is a compulsory subject course for students majoring in physical education.Improving the teaching quality of gymnastics course is of great significance to improving the comprehensive quality of students majoring in physical education.In some scholars' studies,it is pointed out that the research-based learning meets the requirements of the educational reform of China's higher education institutions and meets the needs of the training of teachers in normal colleges and universities.Therefore,in this study,two small classes with 25 students in each class(20 boys and 5 girls)were randomly selected from the general classes of physical Education professional gymnastics in the class of 2018 in SHANDONG University of Physical Education.By means of literature review,questionnaire survey,mathematical statistics,logical analysis,expert interview,experiment and other research methods,under the same teaching task and teaching schedule,different teaching methods are adopted for two classes with no significant difference.The experimental class adopts the research learning teaching method,while the control class adopts the conventional teaching method.Before and after the experiment,the results of learning attitude,exercise attitude,autonomous learning ability,teaching ability and gymnastics assessment results of the two classes were examined and compared,and the application effect and influence of research-based learning in gymnastics teaching of physical education specialty were explored,and the following conclusions were drawn:(1)Application of research-based learning in gymnastics teaching of physical education majors can significantly enhance students' learning motivation and improve their learning initiative;It is helpful to cultivate students' good behavior habits and awareness,and to improve students' exercise attitude effectively.(2)In the process of research-based teaching experiment,the students in the experimental class are significantly different from those in the control class in terms of teaching ability.Compared with the previous teaching methods,research-based learning can improve the teaching ability of students to a greater extent,which is conducive to students' ability to find,analyze and solve problems and adapt to social needs.(3)In the general gymnastics classes for physical education majors,due to the fewer teaching hours of theoretical classes,and the influence of objective factors such as students' review and examination environment,the test results of basic theory of gymnastics in the experimental class were higher than those in the control class,but the test results showed no significant difference.It shows that research learning can improve students' academic performance of gymnastics theory,but not significantly.(4)Research learning and traditional teaching methods can improve students' gymnastics skill level to a certain extent.For skills,horizontal bar and parallel bar projects research learning effect is better;The traditional teaching method only shows the teaching effect in the jumping event,the overall comparison,the research study is more helpful to help the students to master the basic gymnastics skills.
