In order to solve the problems of low reading and low reading ability of contemporary students, the self-reading texts have been newly set for the junior middle school Chinese textbooks.Teaching reading,self-study and extracurricular reading constitute the "Trinity"reading teaching model. In the process of teaching self reading texts, teachers guide students to transfer reading methods so as to improve their reading ability. However,in the development of specific teaching activities, self reading text has not fully played its own value. In the final analysis,it is because front-line teachers do not have a systematic understanding of self-reading texts, and do not realize the value of self-reading texts in improving students' reading ability,so it is very necessary to carry out a systematic research on self-reading texts and their value in improving students' reading ability. The eighth grade is an important period of junior high school. It is a stage of student learning differentiation. It is a period of rapid development of students from focusing on concrete image thinking to focusing on abstract logical thinking. It is a key period for teachers to guide students to improve their reading ability. Therefore,I take the eighth grade self-study text as the research object, and use case analysis to help teachers clarify the concept of self-study text, clarify the value of self-study text, and propose teaching strategies from the aspects of positioning, teaching status, and the value of improving students' reading ability. All in all, based on an analysis of the reading ability of the eighth grade students, this article puts forward some strategies and suggestions based on the current teaching situation of self-reading texts, hoping to help frontline teachers in teaching self-reading texts.
