Sports science undergraduates of Physical Education School of S University is the object of this research.Considering the particularity of the undergraduates group,major education objective,and the study condition,author utilized the method combined with quantitative research and qualitative research to complement each other.Questionnaire of student engagement of sports science and relevant interview were used as the research and investigate tools.The investigation is managed from five aspects including level of academic challenge,active and collaborative learning,and student-faculty interaction,enriched educational experiences,supportive campus environment,to analyze the student engagement status of sports science undergraduates and then demonstrate the student engagement level,and propose some reasonable advice.Research conclusions as follow:1.The student engagement level of undergraduates in Physical Education School of S University is medium.Among the student engagement level,levels of academic challenge,enriched educational experiences,supportive campus environment are above the medium level,and supportive campus environment level earns the highest score,on the other hand,active and collaborative learning,student-faculty interaction levels are relatively low.2.Generally the difference of student engagement level between male and female is slight.Based on specific dimensions,the level of academic challenge of female is higher than male's,and levels of student-faculty interaction and enriched educational experiences of male are higher than female's.Gender difference of active and collaborative learning and supportive campus environment level is not obvious.3.At the different major aspect,the general and detailed student engagement level of sports science undergraduates has obvious gaps between different majors.To be specific,the general student engagement level and active and collaborative learning,student-faculty interaction,enriched educational experiences levels of undergraduates who major in sports rehabilitation is observably inferior to undergraduates who major in physical education,or wushu and traditional Chinese sport,or sports training.However,academic challenge level of undergraduates who major in sports rehabilitation is obviously higher than undergraduates who major in other three majors.Otherwise,undergraduates who major in sports training has the highest level of supportive campus environment.4.At the different college-year aspect,the student engagement level of sports science undergraduates is observably different between different college-years.Overall it shows the reducing trend of student engagement level as the year of college increases.5.At the student source aspect,the student engagement level of sports science undergraduates is observably different between different student sources.The students who came from sports high school shows the worst student engagement level in the research.6.At the self-assessment of learning level aspect,the student engagement level of sports science undergraduates is observably different between different self-assessment learning levels.Overall,the higher student self-assessment learning level is,the higher student engagement level will be.
