In the 21st century, with the development of information technology and the change of media,we have entered an era of "visual Carnival".Using visual symbols to transmit information has become a popular way of communication.Compared with literary narrative, the "visualization" of narrative content can leave a more intuitive and deep impression.Although the concept of "visual narrative" mainly comes from the field of contemporary art,its presentation in history teaching is very diverse. For history classroom teaching, the visual image is not only the decoration and assistance of the text but also the narrative value. In this paper, the concept of visual narrative, the use of methods, selection principles, presentation, combined with teaching cases, the steps and methods of the visual narrative are demonstrated. The application of visual narration provides a new possibility for teachers to present knowledge and a new way of thinking for middle school history teaching, which has theoretical value and practical significance. This paper is divided into four parts,as follows:In the first part, the concept of visual narration and its theoretical basis for history teaching in middle school.First of all,it defines the related concepts of narrative and visual narrative, expounds the characteristics and types of visual narrative, and points out the historical basis of visual narrative.Secondly, visual thinking theory, information processing learning theory and constructivism learning theory in pedagogy and psychology provide solid theoretical support for this study. In the second part,it is about the methods and principles of visual narration applied to history teaching in middle school.Using visual narration in middle school history classroom teaching can start with three basic methods:observation, interpretation and discrimination. In choosing visual narration,we should pay attention to three principles:authenticity, selection and vividness. In the third part, visual narrative is applied to the presentation and case analysis of history teaching in middle school.According to the different ways of presentation, the visual narrative can be divided into three types:static visual narrative, dynamic visual narrative and interactive visual narrative. And according to the different links of history teaching in middle school, the application of the above three visual narratives in history teaching in middle school is demonstrated by practical methods. In the fourth part, the visual narration is applied to the evaluation and reflection of history teaching in middle school. After the teaching practice, the teachers and students participating in the practice were interviewed and surveyed respectively, and then the conclusion was drawn that the application of visual narration in the history teaching of middle school has an obvious effect and positive effect, but there are also some defects and limitations.Nevertheless, the application of visual narrative conforms to the characteristics of history teaching and the trend of the times, and its application prospect is immeasurable.I believe that with the further development of more research and educational technology, the application of visual narrative will also make a new breakthrough.
