ObjectiveTo understand the relationship between social avoidance and distress,self-acceptance of medical freshmen, explore the relationship between the two;On this basis, the feasibility and effectiveness of group intervention programs based on enhancing self-acceptance in reducing social avoidance of medical freshmen were formulated and tested.MethodQuestionnaire survey was conducted on 620 freshmen in Binzhou Medical College by random cluster sampling.Subsequently, using 2(experimental group, control group)× 3(pretest,post-test,follow-up test)repeated measurement experimental design,32 medical freshmen enrolled in the group were randomly assigned to the experimental group and the control group, only the experimental group received intervention. The pretest,post-test and follow-up test scores were compared and analyzed, and the effect of group intervention was evaluated by combining the self-report of the experimental groupResult1.The total score of social avoidance and distress of medical freshmen was between 1 and 28(11.54±6.10),among which 38.9%had problems of social avoidance and distress, and the total score of self-acceptance was between 17 and 60(39.62±6.51).The total scores of social avoidance and distress were significantly different in gender, whether to serve as class cadre or not and place of origin(all P<0.01);There were significant differences in the total score of self-acceptance in terms of whether to serve as class cadre or not, place of origin(all P<0.01)and gender(P<0.05)2.The total score and factor score of social avoidance and distress of medical freshmen were significantly negatively correlated with the total score and factor score of self-acceptance(all P<0.01).Both the total score of self-acceptance and the factor score were effective in negative prediction of social avoidance and distress scores(all P<0.01)3.In post-test and follow-up test, there were significant group differences in social avoidance and distress,self-acceptance,and psychological flexibility scores. The pretest was compared with the timely post-test and the tracking post-test,In terms of social avoidance and distress,self-acceptance and psychological flexibility, the scores of the experimental group in the timely post-test and the tracking post-test were significantly lower than those of the pretest(all P<0.05),while the changes of the scores of the control group did not reach the significant levelConclusion1.The social avoidance and distress problems of medical freshmen were more prominent, and their self-acceptance was above the average level2.High self-acceptors usually have less social avoidance behavior and social distress3.The Self-Acceptance Intervention Program can significantly improve the self-acceptance and social problems of social avoidance medical freshmen, and at the same time can improve psychological flexibility to a certain extent, and these benign changes have a good continuity in a certain period of time.
