In recent years,graduates find it difficult in employment due to the college enrollment expansion,so do the students of Traditional Chinese Medicine?TCM?.Therefore,how to address this challenge becomes one of the hot spots of society.In addition to eliminating the widespread occupational discrimination,policy support of government,family understanding and help for children,we should pay more attention to students themselves.A study by Li Na[70]shows that,college students in China have difficulties in career decision-making,and their career decision-making is indecisive and their career choice is at a loss,which affects their employment.The research of Li Wei,Du Wei and others[71]shows that the current major identity of TCM students is generally at a medium level,while the low degree of major identity of students may dissipate their enthusiasm for learning,and even lead to problems such as professional and employment conflicts.College students'higher major identity and clear career planning and decision-making play an important role in future employment.In order to handle the employment issues,it is pivotal to improve TCM students'enthusiasm and major identity,encourage them to make clear career plan and help them with career decision-making.In this paper,two variables of major identity and achievement motivation are employed to study the career decision difficulty for TCM students.In terms of the research on major identity,achievement motivation and career decision-making difficulty,it is found after studying relevant documents that most of the studies focus on the relationship between two of them and the studies on the relationship between the three are rarely seen.This paper mainly explores the relationship between major identity,achievement motivation and career decision-making difficulty of TCM students.A survey was conducted to five Chinese medicine universities through 1000 questionnaires,including the major identity questionnaires designed by Qin Panbo?2009?,the achievement motivation ones revised by Ye Renmin and others?1992?,the career decision-making difficulty questionnaires by Li Na?2009?,after describe the overall characteristics of the collected data,correlation and regression analysis,test of mediating effect for the collected data,the main findings are as follows:First,the major identity of TCM students remains at medium-to-higher level,and there are no significant differences in genders in major identity.However,the great difference can be found in grade,major,intention for university and academic records.Second,the level of achievement motivation differs greatly and is relatively low,and there is no significant difference in gender and academic records in achievement motivation.However,the big difference can be found in grade,major and intention for university.Third,the level of difficulty in career decision-making is not high,and there is no significant difference in gender and academic records in career decision-making difficulty.However,the great difference can be found in grade,major and intention for university.Fourth,there is a significant negative correlation between major identity and career decision-making difficulty of TCM students.Regression analysis showed that major identity could negatively predict career decision-making difficulty.Fifth,there is a great negative correlation between achievement motivation and career decision-making difficulty of TCM students,and regression analysis showed that achievement motivation could negatively predict career decision-making difficulty.Sixth,there is a significant positive correlation between major identity and achievement motivation of TCM students,and regression analysis showed that major identity could positively predict achievement motivation.Seventh,achievement motivation plays the role of mediating effect on relationship of major identity and career decision-making difficulty of TCM students.Finally,based on the results of the study,some suggestions are given.On the one hand,students should strengthen their self-consciousness and initiative,understand the general situation of the major and choose the major according to their actual situation;on the other hand,families and schools should also improve their attention,strengthen communication with students,enhance their major identity,and guide them to establish a correct view of employment and career selection.
