Students' Evaluation of Teaching(SET)is an important part of teaching evaluation and an important part of college teacher management.Since the 1980 s,colleges and universities in my country have gradually begun to implement student appraisal of teaching,and have attracted extensive attention.The effective implementation of SET can promote the professional development of teachers and the improvement of teaching quality in colleges and universities.This is also the ultimate purpose of student evaluation of teaching in colleges and universities.However,there are still some problems in the actual implementation of SET.How to better solve the problems existing in domestic SET,so that students' evaluation of teaching can really play a role in improving the quality of teaching in universities,and has become an expert scholar hot topic.This article first gives an overview of SET.It clearly analyzes the relevant concepts of SET,such as evaluation,teaching evaluation,student evaluation of teaching,and professional development of teachers;it rationalizes the development stage of SET in China,and summarizes the development of SET in China as a start,regularization,and comprehensive It carried out three stages;expounded the basic functions and influencing factors of college students' evaluation of teaching;discussed the theoretical support of SET,such as formative evaluation theory and summative evaluation theory,developmental evaluation theory,and lifelong education theory.Subsequently,this article investigates the current situation of SET.Investigating students through questionnaires,interviewing teachers through interviews,and analyzing data on the survey results.By analyzing the survey results,we sorted out some of the current problems of SET and summarized their reasons into four aspects.They are insufficient publicity of the school on student evaluation;the organizationand implementation mechanism of student evaluation is not perfect;the indicators of student evaluation are not reasonable;and the feedback of the results of student evaluation is not perfect.Finally,based on the existing problems of SET,based on formative evaluation theory,summative evaluation theory,developmental evaluation theory,and lifelong education theory,a series of countermeasures and programs to improve SET are proposed.First,to correct the attitude towards teaching evaluation,schools should recognize the importance of SET,and strengthen the promotion of teaching evaluation by teachers and students.Second,optimize the implementation of the teaching evaluation process,such as deploying professional teaching evaluation personnel,comprehensively using multiple teaching evaluation methods,and arranging teaching evaluation time reasonably.Third,to improve the formulation of teaching evaluation indicators,a comprehensive and scientific teaching evaluation table should be designed,and the evaluation indicators should be dynamic and differentiated,and relevant evaluation indexes should be formulated based on the opinions of teachers and students.Fourth,to strengthen the use of SET results,we must improve the feedback mechanism to achieve timely feedback and comprehensive feedback,fully and reasonably use the teaching evaluation results,and carefully choose the form of publishing the teaching evaluation results.Through these measures,students in colleges and universities are encouraged to play their due role in promoting teaching quality.
