On the basketball court, the center player plays a pillar role in both ends of attack and defense, supporting the attack and defense system of the team.In attack, the center player's position is often the closest to the basket,so they have the biggest grasp of attacking the basket,so they can hit and shoot under the basket and actively fight for offensive rebounds after teammates shoot,to win more attacking opportunities for the team;in defense, the center player should limit the other team's center player's play in one-on-one situation, and After the teammates are successfully broken by the outside players of the other team, they will help to defend the basket, protect the basket and send out the cover or tactical foul to destroy the chance of the opponent to attack the basket directly. So the hard strength of the center players and their contributions at both ends of attack and defense affect the overall strength of the team and even determine the trend of each game. But with the continuous development of basketball, more and more center's technical characteristics and the role of the field and the former traditional center have a huge difference.Modern center technology is more comprehensive, playing more flexible, but also greatly improve the appreciation of basketball, promote the rapid development of basketball. Then, compared with the former traditional excellent centers, these active high-level excellent centers have what progress and shortcomings, and what inspiration these changes can bring to the training and improvement of our country's center players. We need to study to get useful conclusions. This paper uses the methods of literature, video analysis, mathematical statistics and logical analysis to analyze the attack and defense ability of NBA's active outstanding centers and outstanding centers in 1990 s.The following conclusions are drawn from the study:1.The active outstanding centers' ctole index is lower than that of the outstanding centers in 1990 s.2.The score and utilization rate of the active outstanding centers is lower than that of the90's.3.The Off Eff and TS% of the active outstanding centers are higher than those of the90's.4.The two-point shooting and free throw shooting of the active outstanding centers are less than those of the 1990 s,and the three-point shooting,two-point FGs,three-point FGs and free throw FGs of the active outstanding centers are higher than those of the 1990 s.5.The assists of active outstanding centers is more than that of outstanding centers in1990 s,and there is no obvious gap in turnovers.6.The defensive rebounding ability of the active outstanding centers is better than that of the outstanding centers in 1990 s,and there is no obvious gap in the offensive rebounding ability.7.The ability to block and steal of active outstanding centers is not as good as the outstanding centers in 1990 s.8.The number of Fouls of the active outstanding centers is lower than that of the outstanding centers in 1990 s.9.The PER and WS of the active outstanding centers are lower than those of the 1990 s.Through this study, the following suggestions are made:1.With the gradual development of basketball in the world, the requirements for the body are more and more strict. Therefore,we should strengthen the requirements and strength for the selection of the center players,so that the gap between the domestic center players and the world's high-level center players in the body is narrowed,so as to achieve the balance of attack and defense in the competition.2.While strengthening the technical ability training of the center players,we also cultivate the diversified development of scoring methods, including the ability of three-point shooting.3.We should strengthen the training of the center players' ability of organizing attack,so that they can not only help the team through scoring, but also play an important role in organizing the team.4.We should improve the defensive consciousness and ability of our center players, and improve the ability of blocking, stealing and rebounding.5.We should improve the movement ability of our center players, expand the defensive range.6.We should strengthen the oppression and enthusiasm of our center players in defense, and control their defensive actions to reduce the number of fouls.
