Study On The Impact Of Migrant Workers' Employment Stability On Their Family's Poverty Vulnerability

The Ninth National Congress of the Communist Party of China proposed to ensure that all rural poor people will be lifted out of poverty by 2020.By the end of 2018,the number of rural poor in China has dropped to 166 million,and decisive progress has been made in fighting poverty.However,in order to continue to lift poverty,it is necessary to pay attention to the internal motivation of farmers to get rid of poverty and reduce the phenomenon of returning to poverty after poverty alleviation.In recent years,the number of migrant workers entering the city has increased in number,and the migration of migrant workers has become the main body of the current urbanization.However,the family migrated migrant families to the city to live,mostly at the bottom of the city,their overall income level is not high,and the risk of poverty is high.Once there is any risk,they may fall into poverty.Among the many risks,the migration of migrant workers to employment income as the main source of household income actually means that the risk of employment and income fluctuations may be the biggest risk of poverty.Predicting the poverty vulnerability of migrant workers can help identify individuals or families who are not currently poor and who may fall into poverty in the future,and who are unable to escape poverty in the future.These analyses are useful for identifying poverty alleviation targets and are also important for the implementation of poverty alleviation policies.Therefore,it is of great significance to study the impact of the migration of migrant workers on the employment vulnerability of their families,which is beneficial to the migration of migrant workers to live and work in cities,and is also of great significance to China's poverty alleviation and poverty alleviation work.Based on the research ideas,the main contents of this thesis include:(1)Constructing a theoretical analysis framework for the impact of the employment stability of migrant workers on their family's poverty vulnerability.(2)Measure the poverty vulnerability of migrant workers in the family.Applying the Expected Poverty Vulnerability Method(VEP)to measure the poverty vulnerability of migrant workers in migrant families,and to describe and analyze the employment stability and poverty vulnerability of migrant workers.(3)Analysis of the impact of the migration stability of migrant workers on their family's poverty vulnerability.Based on the China Comprehensive Social Survey(CGSS),the OLS regression was constructed to analyze the impact of employment stability on the poverty vulnerability of migrant workers in the family,and the propensity score matching method(PSM)was used to test the robustness.(4)Analysis of the difference in employment between the family's migration and the poverty vulnerability of migrant workers.The propensity score matching method(PSM)was used to analyze the differences in poverty vulnerability betweenemployers with stable employment and unstable families with different human capital,physical capital,social security and other family characteristics.The study found that:(1)Through the expected poverty vulnerability method(VEP),the poverty vulnerability measured under the three poverty lines of 2,300 yuan per year,1.9dollars per day and 3.1 dollars per day is slightly different.It is found that the migration of migrant workers is stable.Under which poverty line standard,the poverty vulnerability of employment-stable households is lower than that of unstable families.(2)The stability of employment has a significant effect on the poverty vulnerability of migrant families in migrant families.After endogenous treatment and robustness testing,this conclusion is still valid.(3)Human capital,physical capital,social capital and other family characteristics variables have a significant impact on the poverty vulnerability of migrant families.(4)By comparing the degree of poverty vulnerability of employment-stable families and unstable families with different characteristics,it is found that the employment of migrant workers is stable and the vulnerability to poverty is reduced.The head of households has higher education level and unhealthy physical condition.The lower the age group,the more obvious.For a family with 0 children and a family,the more stable the employment,the lower the poverty vulnerability of the family.For the region,employment stability has the greatest impact on the poverty vulnerability of migrant workers in the western region.Finally,combined with the above research conclusions,it gives inspirations from improving the employment stability of migrant workers,helping vulnerable groups in cities and enhancing the enthusiasm of migrant workers.
