In families with mentally disabled children, the importance of parents is self-evident.These parents confront with double pressures of economy and psychology.Their mental health affects the life and rehabilitation level of their children to a certain extent. Therefore, the personal status of these parents requires our great attention. However, the current researches mainly focus on children with mental disorders themselves, and studies on their parents are relatively few. From the perspective of social work,we investigated 123 parents with mentally disabled children in R organization to study the factors that influence their stress level and the relationship between stress level and parenting stress level. We used Self-Rating Anxiety Scale and Parenting Stress Index to measure these levels. We figured out that the anxiety level and parental pressure of these parents are generally high, and are affected by the nature of their work and their children's self-care situation, while there is a significant positive correlation between parental stress and anxiety level.Parental stress has a greater impact on the anxiety level of these parents. In view of the above conclusions, this paper put forward suggestions using the professional methods and knowledge of social work to government departments and social work institutions to help these parents to find appropriate ways to relieve stress and reduce anxiety,so as to better help the life and rehabilitation of mentally disabled children. |
