Modern agriculture is a sustainable agriculture that makes full use of and constantly updates the production materials, facilities and equipment provided by science and technology and modern industry,as well as modern management methods. The core is scientific, characterized by commercialization, the direction is intensification, and the goal is industrialization.Engaged in modern agriculture refers to the production, management, administration, and technology of modern agricultural and forestry planting, aquaculture, agricultural product processing, and agricultural comprehensive service industries. At present,China's modern agricultural development level is low and its development stamina is insufficient. It is in the critical period of transition from traditional agriculture to modern agriculture. The low comprehensive quality of agricultural practitioners is an important factor restricting the development of modern agriculture in China. The development of modern agriculture urgently requires a large number of complex high-quality talents who understand agriculture, love rural areas, manage well, and have the innovation ability.Students of higher agricultural and forestry colleges have higher ideological and political literacy, rich scientific and cultural knowledge, strong sense of exploration and innovation, and have a certain level of professionalism in agriculture. They are an important source of high-quality human capital in modern agriculture. However, the inherent weakness of agriculture has led to the prevalence of the phenomenon of "cultivating farmers and not farming" in higher agricultural and forestry colleges. At present, graduates engaged in modern agriculture in China are difficult to effectively support modern agricultural construction in terms of quantity and quality. This imbalance between supply and demand has seriously restricted the development of modern agriculture in China. Therefore, this study explores the factors influencing the willingness of students to graduate from higher agricultural and forestry colleges to engage in modern agriculture from the micro level. This study uses literature research and semi-structured interviews, based on human capital theory and human resource feedback theory, and it is determined that research hypotheses are proposed from five aspects:agriculture-related knowledge,agriculture-related emotions,agriculture-related capacity, employment guidance, and employment evaluation.Using mathematical statistics analysis method, select latent variables and their observed variables, and construct a structural equation modeling.Using the questionnaire method to obtain sample data of case university, and reliability and validity analysis of the data.Through empirical analysis of the constructed structural equation modeling,it is concluded that agriculture-related knowledge,agriculture-related emotions,agriculture-related abilities, employment guidance, and employment evaluation all positively affect the willingness of higher agricultural and forestry college students to engage in modern agriculture after graduation.Based on the results of empirical analysis, this study proposes countermeasures and suggestions for promoting the higher agricultural and forestry college students to engage in modern agriculture after graduation,in order to provide a realistic reference for the balance of supply and demand and the coordinated promotion of employment of higher agricultural and forestry college graduates and modern agricultural development:the government should play a leading role in accelerating agricultural and rural construction, upgrading preferential support policies, and creating a good social atmosphere;colleges and universities should play the role of ties, innovate talent training systems, carry out school-enterprise cooperation and training, and improve employment and entrepreneurship guidance;students should play the role of talents, transform traditional employment ideas, and strengthen the capacity of agriculture-related knowledge.
