Dementia is a problem that human beings may face in the aging process. At present,China lacks relevant policies, systems and professionals to help the elderly prevent dementia. Therefore, social workers to help the elderly preventing dementia,is today's society for the construction of healthy aging and active aging rigid demand. The main purpose of this study is to explore the methods and effectiveness of social work intervention to help the elderly to prevent dementia,so as to try to form a set of low-cost,scientific and feasible, widely applicable and reproducible prevention model. The author draws on the relevant experience in various fields such as medical treatment, nursing, social work and so on,and under the guidance of social support theory, strengthens family members' awareness of prevention to cultivate family prevention positions, and helps service objects to link social resources.Memory therapy, music therapy, cognitive function training, interest cultivation and dementia knowledge class were used in six group activities.Community lectures on dementia health education will be held to enable the elderly to learn about the causes, conditions and influencing factors of dementia,so as to form health beliefs and change bad behavior patterns at an early age. After social work provided a series of services to prevent dementia, the main achievements were as follows: first, they had a more comprehensive understanding of the causes and conditions of dementia, and learned more prevention methods and skills in diet, life habits and other aspects;Secondly,by observing the performance of the team members in the service, and analyzing the results of measurement data before and after MMSE scale,it is proved that social work has a positive effect on the early prevention of dementia in the elderly with only slight decline in memory and cognitive function. Finally, the content of this group activity is highly reproducible and low cost, which can provide reference for other social workers who need to help the elderly in the community to provide services to prevent dementia. The group work carried out in this study is well targeted but has a small capacity and can only radiate fewer members, making it difficult to carry out long-term in-depth prevention work.In addition, the researchers themselves lack the support of medical professional background and can only screen through the MMSE scale score, which may not be scientific and objective. Therefore, the government should speed up the release of targeted documents and special allocations to prevent dementia. It is an inevitable development direction in the future for social work to organize various parties, including hospitals, communities and nursing homes,to carry out a broader range of prevention work.
