With the development of the economy, changes in people's lifestyles, and changes in family structure, the core family has become the mainstream of the current family model. Most of the native families gradually disintegrated with the departure of their children, and the number of elderly people living alone increased due to the death and divorce of their spouses. The elderly living alone are a special category among the disadvantaged groups. They lack the warmth from the family and enjoy the happiness of family. Some elderly people living alone face difficulties in their lives, and their pension status is worrying.Due to the lack of family and social support,it is easy to produce negative,retreating,self-enclosed psychology. These psychological problems gradually lead to difficulties and obstacles in interpersonal communication, which greatly affects the physical and mental health of the elderly living alone. This study is based on the Provincial Welfare Lottery Public Welfare Fund to support social organizations to participate in social activities, and in the service of 202 elderly people in six communities in D Street,it is found that a large number of elderly people living alone have problems in interpersonal communication.Based on the previous community visits, survey and analysis materials, and the recommendation of community workers, the author selects special cases for social work practice intervention.Through literature review,in-depth interviews, field observations and other methods to understand the basic situation of the case, explore the inherent reasons for the existence of interpersonal barriers, and assess the needs.Under the guidance of rational emotion theory and social support theory,a case-work method was used to conduct practical interventions for a single-sex elderly person, and the change of the case was evaluated through the participation of sevencase services and several social activities. After the case ended, the physical condition of the case was improved, the irrational emotions in the heart were controlled, and the problem of interpersonal communication was solved to some extent.Through the comparison of observations before and after, the case has significantly improved the frequency and active communication with the surrounding people, and established a relatively solid social support network. Finally, this study summarizes and reflects on the social worker intervention level and the effect of case intervention, and finds out what needs to be improved to facilitate further improvement.
