Under the circumstances of Double First Class University Plan,how to strengthen the construction of key disciplines while have it laying foundation and creating conditions for cultivation of undergraduate talents is an urgent issue that must be explored and studied in theory and practice.Taking four world-class Research universities to conduct case studies,on the basis of teasing out general education curriculum of these universities and the course information of undergraduate program cases,this thesis summarizes the characteristics of academic discipline Structure of world-class universities,which as following:First,the academic discipline Structure which support the general education cover fundamental disciplines,including the Humanities,Social Sciences and Natural Sciences.At the same time,aiming to general education,wide-ranging course of interdisciplinary project should be offered Second,curriculum of professional education on undergraduate program need multidisciplinary support from the inner of a Research university.At last,the development of academic disciplines which support undergraduate general education and professional education is not in the same pace.In other words,not all the discipline Structure of undergraduate education supporting world-class Research universities are first-class.Meanwhile,selecting four A-class universities of Double First Class University Plan as case study,based on combing 7891 pieces of information of undergraduate curriculums in these four universities,this thesis discusses academic discipline Structure that support courses of all modules in undergraduate general education and professional education separately.In terms of general education,six types of common general education courses are guided by the state and all the universities have set complete supporting disciplines.There is enormous difference between development of core courses and elective courses in general education,and certain universities cannot provide complete supporting disciplines.The differences of credit capacity and study system affect the discipline Structure which could be covered by the general education.In the aspect of professional education,due to the lake of discipline Structure,some universities can hardly provide multidisciplinary support for professional education curriculum.Furthermore,through analysis of the first-class university construction plan and the adjustment of academic disciplines and degree programs published by 35 A-class schools in Double First Class University Plan,the thesis finds out that the satisfaction of talent cultivation need is not the focus of discipline construction and the adjustment of academic disciplines and degree programs leads to incompleteness of foundation disciplines rather than completeness.In the end,according to the current situation of undergraduate and graduate students’needs of discipline Structure,the thesis evaluates whether construction of discipline Structure in Chinese Research universities can efficiently meet the needs of undergraduate education at present.The result of survey shows that general education is the main part which affects the discipline structure needs of undergraduates in Research universities.The satisfaction of discipline structure needs of undergraduates,whose the learning needs of various disciplines are not fulfilled,is low,while the graduates hope to have more rich selections to access interdisciplinary content that is beneficial to its future development.In professional education,large-category cultivation model supported by multidisciplinary broadens the foundation of cultivation and has a great help to students of science in career development and job application.Nevertheless,the programs of Humanities and Social sciences have relatively narrow discipline structure supporting them.The graduates who major in them more often seek jobs in other fields and have obvious shortage in job application.Therefore,compared with undergraduate education of world-class Research universities,current discipline structure supporting undergraduate education of our Research universities can hardly fully meet the study needs of students.Talent cultivation needs is seldom paid attention to in policy orientation and measure of discipline adjustment.During the conduct of Double First Class University Plan,the construction of discipline structure of Research universities should focus on requirements of undergraduate education.The discipline Structure which support undergraduate general education and professional education going forward together should be set up and perfected step by step.
