With the development of higher special education,more and more disabled students choose to continue to accept higher education.At the same time,as a new view of college students' academic situation and education quality,the scientificalness and effectiveness of student engagement has been proved.Improving the level of student engagement of disabled college students will help them to achieve high level of academic achievement.National survey of student engagement(NSSE-China)2012 was used to investigate the student engagement and academic achievement of the disabled college students with different personal background,and we compared the results of the normal college students with that disabled on the overall situation and each dimension in our research.The school support services accepted by all kinds of disabled college students were investigated according to the questionnaire about disabled college students' school support services,simultaneously.Otherwise,the relationship among the school support services,student engagement and academic achievement was analyzed.In this study,we know about the disabled student engagement,academic achievement and details of the school support services,analyze the related factors that can influence the student engagement of the disabled students further,seek the effective path to improve their academic achievement,and make suggestions for higher special education quality of support services improvement.The conclusions of the study mainly include the following aspects:(1)Student engagement has significant predictive effects on academic achievement of disabled college students.(2)Among the five dimensions of student engagement for disabled college students,the score of supportive campus environment is the highest,and the score of student-faculty interaction is the lowest.(3)In this study,disabled college students are significantly higher than normal college students in the two dimensions of" student-faculty interaction " and " active and collaborative learning".Normal college students have slightly higher " enriching educational experience " than disabled college students,but the difference is not obvious.(4)The student engagement of disabled college students is different under personal backgrounds.There was no significant difference in student engagement level between disabled college students in terms of gender and grade.Visually impaired college students faced more challenges than other two types of disabled students.The level of student engagement on undergraduate colleges was higher than academy.Disabled college students with a higher degree of disability had higher student engagement level.Studying in normal class disabled college student engagement levels were higher than the students in special education classes.(5)The factors affecting the learning engagement of disabled college students included the types of obstacles,the degree of ob stacles,the educational placements,the types of institutions and the degree of support services,among which the degree of support services has a significant impact on student engagement.In view of the above,researchers suggest that disabled college students should make efforts to make up for the shortcomings in their student engagement and focus on positive mental energy,at the same time,they need keep active communication with their schools.Colleges and universities need to pay more attention to integrated higher education,provide adequate academic support services for disabled students and create a good learning environment for the disabled students.
