Influence Of Attitudinal And Low-carbon Factors On Commuting Mode Choice

As scale of cities become larger,the travel demand of residents increases too.Sepecially in metropolis where population gathers,the traffic system is under much burden.Among the traffic demands,commuting is very important and account for the most part.However,the flexibility,comfortability and convenience of public transport system in metropolis is not ideal,private cars are still important options for commuting behavior.To achieve sustainability of transportation system,it's helpful to switch from private cars to public transportation when commute.Thus,the impact factors of residents' commuting behavior should be studied.Thus,we can enact scientific traffic management policies and implement them,to change residents' commuting preference and optimize commuting structure.After analysis papers about reisdents' travel and commuting mode,this thesis establishes commuting mode choice intention model based on psychological factors and low carbon factors,combing Material Possession Theory and other related theories.This thesis uses residents from Beijing,Jinan and Hangzhou as research subjects,and designs survey questionnaire to collected related data.By model construction model,this thesis uses logistic regression model to study the influence factor of commuting mode choice and their influence relationship.In the research process,we found that commuting structure and its influencing factor differs in different cities.To study how city difference influences commuting mode choice,we build a commuting mode choice model based on personal trait,family trait,travel feature and public transportation system.The research result can be used to support transport management policies and contribute to the theory foundation of public transportation development.The main conclusions of this thesis are as follows:(1)the influence of low carbon knowledge and low carbon habit on commuting mode choice are direct and significant;however,the influence of low carbon awareness is not significant.(2)low carbon knowledge and instrumental factor are the two factors that influence commuting mode choice the most.(3)economic factors significantly influence commuting mode choice.(4)besides instrumental factors,other factors like age,private car ownership and driving license ownership are also important factors influencing commuting mode choice;however,the influence of education level,commuting time and commuting cost differs in different cities.
