With the global warming, sea level rise, environment degradation, the appeal on environmental protection is becoming urgent. In addition to the energy intensive traditional industries, such as oil refining, carbon steel, chemical and so on, many mega sports venues also produce large amounts of carbon emissions. The low-carbon operation patterns of mega venues will be significant for improving the environment quality, the operation benefit and social effect of venues.This paper defines the connotation of low-carbon operation mode firstly. Secondly, this paper chooses nine sports venues in Harbin as the research objects. And confirm the indicators which are for evaluating the low-carbon operation efficiency of mega venues through field interviews, literatures and SPSS17.0 statistical analysis software. At last, this paper analyzes the low-carbon operation efficiency of sports venues using DEA analysis method. The research got two findings. The one is 66.7% of the research venues show poor low-carbon operation efficiency. The other is the low-carbon operation efficiency of venues can reduce over half of original carbon emissions.This paper supposes a low-carbon operation mode based on the results of DEA analysis and the effective sports venues experience. The low-carbon operation of mega venues mainly includes management system, capital usage efficiency, carbon emissions and operating strategy. What’s more, this paper also states the aspect of government and supply chain to ensure the implement of low-carbon operation of mega venues.
