The Relationship Between The Korean College Students' Work Values And Entrepreneurial Intention

As youth unemployment evolved into a social issue,more are turning their eyes to starting businesses.In order to realize “Creative Economy”,the government has been doing its best to create a good business startup environment and expand business startup education.Since starting businesses is considered a job recently,the need for more research on the connection between students' motive for choosing careers and starting businesses is becoming greater by the second.This study analysis the connection between Korean college students' work values and entrepreneurial intention.It also observes how big five factors,personal experience and business startup experience of family members influence students' work values and entrepreneurial intention.This study did a survey on students studying in four-year-course universities in Seoul.A total of 328 questionnaires were reviewed and below is the analyzed results.The results show that the intrinsic work values like achievement and creativity have a positive effect on entrepreneurial intention,while extrinsic work values like returns and job security have a negative influence on entrepreneurial intention.The results of moderating effect show that the big five factors such as extraversion,openness to experience and conscientiousness have positive moderating effect on the relationship between intrinsic work values and entrepreneurial intention,while neuroticism and agreeableness have negative moderating effect on the relationship between intrinsic work values and entrepreneurial intention.It also showed that the big five factors such as extraversion,openness and conscientiousness have positive effects on the relationship between extrinsic work values and entrepreneurial intention,while neuroticism and agreeableness have negative moderating effects on the relationship between extrinsic work values and entrepreneurial intention.It showed that personal entrepreneurial experience has positive effects on both intrinsic and extrinsic work values and entrepreneurial intention.Entrepreneurial experience of family members also had significantly positive moderating effects on both intrinsic and extrinsic work values and entrepreneurial intention.Based on these results,we derived meaningful insights on how entrepreneurship can be improved through currently expanding intra-university entrepreneurial education.We expect these study results to contribute to the realization of the government-driven “ Creative Economy”.
